‘I don’t DJ’ says Alejandro Mosso, ‘and I’m not interested in DJing.’ This unique viewpoint is just one facet of the young Argentinean’s instantly unmistakable sense of self. Having in the past worked under several aliases Funzion, E. Bridge and Ampec, he is now releasing music only as Alejandro Mosso, and his exacting standards have seen his music appear on such respected international labels as LoMidHigh, Sushitech and Alphahouse, amongst others.
Upholding that for him a live performance is his way of showing a more personal expression, this self-acknowledged perfectionist works every day on his live set so that each performance is powerful, interactive, and worlds away from the average super-loopy offering.
Ale’s track ‘Somebody’, snapped up by Sven Vath for Cocoon’s ‘Sound of the Tenth Season’ compilation, proved that his musical style - tricky, warm, melodic and energetic - is easily adaptable from home listening to dancefloor appeal. Constantly developing and growing, Ale aims to make timeless, emotive sounds.
Born in Argentina in 1983 and now based in Berlin, Alejandro’s move followed a degree in Political Science. Adamantly not buying into the ‘Latino-turned-European techno star’ stereotype, the lure of Europe was a natural step intended to bring him closer to electronic music, expanding world views and finding solid inspiration at the same time.
Ale maintains that he isn’t ‘a techno head’, and has a background in playing guitar – a study that influences earlier experiments with ambient and IDM, and current excursions with techno. Now his particular brand of ‘musical music’ is pleasing crowds at some of Europe’s most esteemed venues - Watergate, Weekend, Harry Klein, Cityfox, and notably two editions of the avant garde music festival Mutek in Chile and Buenos Aires.
The coming year will see the laudable release of an album that has been a year in the making, and several exciting new EP’s – with so many new horizons imminent this headstrong producer has a lot to be pleased about.
